Fluffy butts and scattered kibble

So we (and by "we," I totally mean "I") took the leap and started cloth diapering Graham. It's still too early yet to write on my experiences with the diapers, since we just started, but so far, I have to say, I'm a fan. We're trying out the Smartipants pocket diaper system right now, with our Gro Baby diapers coming in tomorrow's mail. But I mean, really, is there anything cuter than a baby with a fluffy, cloth diapered butt?

And, depending on whom you ask, Graham has started crawling. He doesn't motor on down the hall yet, but he definitely gets from Point A to Point B using a series of jerking forward motions, scoots and butt rotations. It's deliberate enough that no dog food bowl is left unturned....

Edited to add: Yes, I'm aware that the open basement door directly behind Graham is a safety hazard. So, before any comments start coming in, please be assured the Yes, We Do Keep The Door Shut At All Times. It was actually just open because I was hopping back and forth between the doorways taking pictures. Mah babah is safe, worry not, my peeps, worry not....

Mommy Brain...

...not a whole lot to update. Going through a bit of a funk right now, actually. Had a minor breakdown yesterday, as I couldn't find my Mother's Day massage gift certificate. Finally found it, tucked inside a Rachel Ray magazine, which was wedged next to my onion basket in my pantry. Ugh! Totally logical place for it, right? Um, notsomuch. Not sure if it's just 7 months of no REM sleep, or this cold, or stress (most likely a combination of all three!), but definitley am a space cadet of late.

^ Just realized that 99% of the entire above paragraph is compiled of sentence fragments. Apparently, I'm too tired to even care about grammatical errors. Which, for anyone who knows me, is like me passing up dessert. Just doesn't happen...

In other news, Graham is the same, still scootin' along backwards, perfecting the 'downward dog' yoga pose, and working on those damn teeth, whose threatened existence are the cause of many a sleepless night. But he seems to just get cuter each day, and each day, I fall more and more in love with the little guy. It's starting to get really hard to go to work each day and leave him, he's getting so big, so fast, I just want to spend every minute with him, so as not to miss one single part of him growing up!

And just because I'm feeling nostalgic and missing my smooshy little newborn, and because this blog was created long after a "Hello World!" post would have been apropo, here are some pictures of the longest, most emotionally draining, most rewarding and undisputabley best damn day of my life:

For Daddy...

We went to Graham's buddy Grayden's baptism party this weekend, and Graham had lots of fun meeting all the new people, but mostly, he was just diggin' hanging out with his daddy. Check out the big smile below:

7 Months and Baptized!

I can't believe the G-man is 7 months old already! He's getting SOOO big, and it seems every day, he's hitting a new milestone, or displaying a new skill, and developing into a little man. The last month has been very busy -- still no crawling, but he's almost there (yeah, yeah, I know I've been saying that for about six weeks now, but really, he's thisclose, I swears!). He has managed to pull himself up a few times, so maybe he'll be one of those child prodigies that skips crawling all together, and moves directly on to walking?!?!!

He is expanding his food repertoire, and I have to say, he doesn't have a discriminating palette, the kid'll eat anything (and good thing too, because homemade baby food is time consuming!). So far, he's successfully eaten: squash, sweet potato, zucchini, asparagus, green beans, spring peas, bananans, cinnamon applesauce, pears, blueberries, and mango. The only failure has been apricots, which were too sour. And his good appetite sure shows - he's nearly topping 21 pounds, and growing fast! In fact, today was his first time sitting up in a high chair at a restuarant, and he did GREAT! I'd show you pictures, but someone* deleted the pictures. So you'll just have to take my word for it that it was cute...

In other news, Graham was baptized last weekend, at the very same church his daddy was baptized in 35 years ago. And he did such a good job, he was nice and behaved during the service, and let out hardly a whimper during the actual baptism. And then we got to eat yummy cake :-) Good stuff.

I'm sure more exciting updates will be coming shortly, as we're anxiously awaiting** a few teeth, if the copious amounts of drool are any indication.

*I'm not saying who, but his name rhymes with "Schmerick"

**more accurately, Graham, Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to the misery being over, Mommy's boobs, well... notsomuch...
